Stop Wasting Money on Unused Apps: with Purpose and Testing

03.12.2025 – Author: LinkedIn

In a world where we can produce more digital products faster than ever – one question becomes increasingly relevant: Is it actually worth it? 💭

In regard to digital products, I’m convinced there are already far too many websites and apps out there that look fancy but fail to meet a real user need.
And in most cases, that’s still money wasted when not many ever use or even see them.

So what’s the antidote? How can we create something that actually works? 👉 Give things a purpose and test before going live.

🎯 Purpose

A digital product shouldn’t just follow trends or gut feeling.
It should fulfill a clear goal — ideally one that’s tightly linked to a company’s vision and business objectives.
That purpose creates a red thread through the entire product journey.
It keeps us focused and lean instead of getting lost in feature chaos.

🐟 Testing:

There’s a saying: “The worm must taste good to the fish, not the fisherman.
With our years of experience, we can often make informed assumptions about what users might need.
But to know for sure, we have to get out there and test — to learn directly from real interactions.
This is often way simpler than it sounds.

A simple way to do this early in the process?
👉 Facade Testing
👉 Paper Prototyping
👉 Or even usability tests on wireframes or sketches
